Great Lakes Rabbit and Cavy Shows was established in 2002 for the purpose of bringing an ARBA National Convention to the state of Michigan. After its formation the club began the long task of putting together the many things that would be needed to host a convention. After exploring many options the club decided on Grand Rapids and DeVos Place as the location for their show.

By submitting this bid Great Lakes Rabbit and Cavy Shows has two goals. First the members of the club hope to bring an ARBA National Convention back to Michigan for the first time since 1978. Michigan has hosted several ARBA Conventions. In fact a "test convention" was held in Grand Rapids in 1917 sponsored by the Great Lakes Rabbit and Pet Stock Association.

Secondly the members of Great Lakes Rabbit and Cavy Shows are aiding the youth of the state by the establishment of a scholarship program. We are currently offering two $500 scholorships and with the profits from this convention Great Lakes Rabbit & Cavy Shows will be able to increase the amounts or numbers of scholarships offered. These scholarships will be available to all members of the Michigan State Rabbit Breeders Youth Association, whether they are rabbit or cavy breeders.
